Both Social and Environmental Sustainability is an integral part of our company’s
overall strategy. We source our raw materials from smallholder farmers in Tanzania.
The farmers undergo training on sustainable land use management and comply with
standards requirements for both organic and environmental standards.
In turn the knowledge contributes to improve conservation of biodiversity, farm
productivity and resilience and on the other hand the company is assured
sustainable flow of quality seeds and quality cooking oil to our customers.
OBRI Tanzania is committed to sustainable practices within edible oil industry in design, delivery and conducting operation. This is reflected in how we:
OBRI Tanzania is involved every step of the way when it comes to sunflowers we use in our products. We have to ensure the highest quality products, there for we go extra mile in testing seed we use to produce the product we deliver
We work directly with over 672 smallholder sunflower farmers in Tanzania; East Africa. Our farmers are our key stakeholders to ensure sustainable flow of quality raw materials while improving their socio-economic condition.
“Wakulima Wetu” a Swahili word for our farmers is our unique
sourcing programme, through which we work directly with
farmers located within our
responsible sourcing activities, our model helps ensure the
supply of high-quality seeds, and provides traceability
back to farm level. Through it, we engage directly with
farmers to develop supply chains that meet our social,
environmental and ethical requirements. Wakulima Wetu
enables us to take responsible sourcing one step further,
by working with farmers to support sustainable developments
in agriculture.
